Winning Teachers 2011
Rewarding Teaching Excellence
TORONTO, 17 October 2011
Welcome to the Winning Teachers' page where we recognize the excellent teachers who have received the OTIP Teaching Award for Excellence.
On September 29, three Ontario teachers were recognized with the award at Enoch Turner School in Toronto. The awards are presented on the Thursday prior to World Teachers’ Day to recognize the great work that teachers are doing daily in our schools. UNESCO inaugurated October 5 as World Teachers’ Day in 1994. This was the eighth year for the awards.
The teachers honoured were Brian Robertson, Land O’ Lakes Public School, Mountain Grove, Alison Mann, Parkdale Collegiate Institute, Toronto and Anna Farago, Weston Collegiate Institute, Toronto. On the right of this page is a vignette of each of the winners. Their contribution to education is inspiring.
“We believe that good teaching provides young people with the intellectual resources to count on as they set out to face life’s challenges,” stated Julie Millard, Director of Marketing and Communications at OTIP who, along with Roxanne Chartrand, Director of Human Resources from OTIP, presented one of the awards.
“These award winners are representative of all Ontario’s teachers” added Francine LeBlanc-Lebel, OTF President. “It is a wonderful way for us to celebrate World Teachers’ Day - to recognize the excellence of teachers.”
The Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP) sponsors the OTIP Teaching Awards which are administered by the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (OTF).
